Oscar Piastri has been awarded a five-second time penalty for a false start at the Las Vegas Grand Prix.
The Australian driver started in eighth but came to a halt at the end of the warm-up lap too far forwards in his grid slot.
After serving the penalty on lap 11 ahead of his first pit-stop, Piastri rejoined in 18th and several seconds behind Max Verstappen, Lando Norris and Charles Leclerc.
It could hurt McLaren in the F1 constructors' title fight, with both Ferraris being in podium contention.
As things stand with Verstappen in fifth and Norris in 10th, the Red Bull driver will secure his fourth world title.
Since the publication of this article, the FIA has explained the reasoning behind the penalty.
