Max Verstappen grabbed a sensational pole position for the Singapore Grand Prix Sprint race on Saturday with a late lap to beat Mercedes' George Russell.
Ferrari's Charles Leclerc was quickest on his first lap in SQ1 at the Marina Bay Street Circuit and improved on his second with a one minute 31.399s, only for Verstappen to beat that by a quarter of a second with his only run.
Verstappen, however, is under investigation for an infringement in the first part of qualifying after overtaking Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton in yellow-flag conditions.
At the death, Russell managed to split Verstappen and Leclerc, finishing 0.120s adrift.
