Max Verstappen's third place on the Zandvoort grid for the Dutch Grand Prix is under threat as the four-time F1 champion faces an investigation by the stewards.
Verstappen performed superbly to finish a quarter of a second behind an all-McLaren front row, spearheaded by Oscar Piastri, who finished just 0.012s ahead of team-mate Lando Norris.
But Red Bull driver Verstappen has been cited for an 'alleged breach of Article 33.4 of the FIA Formula One Sporting Regulations & Article 12.2.1(i) - driving unnecessarily slowly at 16:02 in contravention of the race director’s event notes'.
The incident occurred at the end of the top-10 shoot-out.
The regulation specifically states that "at no time may a car be driven unnecessarily slowly, erratically or in a manner which could be deemed potentially dangerous to other drivers or any other person".
