Max Verstappen will face the Singapore Grand Prix stewards following an apparent infringement during sprint qualifying.
The incident came after a crash involving Cadillac's Sergio Perez at the Marina Bay Street Circuit in SQ1. The Mexican driver crunched the nose of his car into a wall at Turn 4, leading to initial yellow flags
Although Perez managed to reverse and return to the track, double-waved yellows were shown as debris was deposited on the circuit.
At one point under the yellows, Verstappen passed Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton, who had set the fastest time when the session was ultimately red-flagged to allow the marshals to clear away the bits of carbon fibre from the Cadillac.
"Max overtook me under a yellow flag," radioed Hamilton to his team.
Verstappen responded over his radio, saying he did so as a precaution given the circumstances.
The stewards will now hear the argument from the four-time F1 champion as to why he committed a clear offence.
Verstappen went on to finish quickest in SQ1 with a lap of one minute 33.477s, 0.018s ahead of Ferrari's Charles Leclerc.
