Max Verstappen brought out the red flags early in the second practice session for the Belgian Grand Prix.
The four-time F1 champion, who surprisingly topped FP1, becoming the first non-Mercedes or Ferrari driver to do so this season, ran wide at Stavelot and on the approach to the Curve Paul Frére.
In doing so, the Red Bull driver kicked up a considerable amount of gravel across that area of the Spa-Francorchamps circuit.
It led to race control opting to bring a halt to the session to allow the marshals to sweep away the stones littered across the track.
The hiatus only lasted a few minutes before the session continued, at which time Mercedes' Kimi Antonelli was marginally leading the way ahead of Isack Hadjar and Verstappen.
