Max Verstappen appeared to thump the steering wheel of his Red Bull in bitter frustration late in the first practice session for the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix at Imola where McLaren duo Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris led the way.

Around 45 minutes into the hour-long run, Verstappen bemoaned his car, declaring that, "I can't rely on the rear. It just feels like I'm drfiting everywhere."

Lewis Hamilton makes staggering admission over torrid Ferrari start

Lewis Hamilton has admitted that he under-estimated the scale of his move from Mercedes to Ferrari, believing it is "as challenging as it could ever be."

Hamilton left Mercedes after 12 seasons and six world titles to join the Scuderia for 2025, and aside from a Sprint pole and win in China, he has largely struggled to match team-mate Charles Leclerc, although the SF-25 machine has some flaws.

Max Verstappen silences Christian Horner Red Bull axe rumours

Max Verstappen has silenced rumours that Red Bull team principal Christian Horner is set to be fired following this weekend's Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. 

Horner has led the Milton Keynes-based outfit since it entered Formula 1 in 2005, yet rumours started to fly that he could face the axe after Imola.

2025 F1 Emilia Romagna Grand Prix - Imola Free Practice 2 results

Oscar Piastri was fastest during the second free practice session at Imola, ahead of the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix.

The McLaren driver set a lap time of 1.15.293, +0.025 quicker than team-mate Lando Norris, who was second on the timing board. Pierre Gasly was a surprise third for Alpine.

McLaren release statement after fatal headquarters fire

McLaren Formula E has released a statement following a deadly fire at Bicester Motion – formerly known as Bicester Heritage.

It is a former RAF facility used by the papaya outfit for its FE operations, and is also home to several engineering and classic car restoration businesses.

Ferrari learns verdict after stewards' Imola investigation

Ferrari has learned its verdict from the F1 stewards following an investigation into an incident that occurred during the first free practice session.

Charles Leclerc returned to the pit lane following a run where his tyre pressures were altered whilst stationary in the garage and not following the prescribed procedure.
