Former F1 driver backs brother to continue 'family business' with new deal

Kevin Magnussen's half-brother Luca is beginning the first steps in his motorsport journey.

Kevin Magnussen's half-brother Luca has begun his own motorsport journey by agreeing a deal to race in the British GB4 championship.

Luca, who is 15 years old, is the son of Jan Magnussen, and claimed a Danish karting title in 2023 and will now move into car racing with the Fortec Motorsport squad, who won the '24 drivers' title through Linus Granfors.

Jan Magnussen made his name in the junior ranks of British motorsport in the 1990s, shattering a host of records in British F3 in 1994 that had previously belonged to Ayrton Senna, although his F1 career never lived up to the hype.

Luca, who attended his first motorsport event at just 14 days old, explained that he was "proud to team up with such a renowned and experienced team like Fortec Motorsports," according to a statement.

Later taking to social media to congratulate his half-sibling, ex-McLaren, Renault, and Haas F1 -turned sportscar racer Kevin Magnussen offered his backing to Luca.
