Brazilian authorities issued weather warnings as early as Thursday in advance of the 21st round of the Formula 1 season.
São Paulo will not be the hardest hit by the expected "extratropical cyclone," but an extraordinary amount of rain could still fall in 24 hours, and wind gusts of up to 100 km/h are expected.
The sprint race is scheduled for 14:00 GMT (11:00 local), with qualifying for the main race later today at 18:00 GMT (15:00 local).
