George Russell laid down an impressive marker at the end of final practice, going six-tenths faster than his nearest rival.
However, on the other side of the Mercedes garage, there was pain as Kimi Antonelli suffered a major crash in the closing stages of the session.
Rival teams will be seeking to close that gap to the Brackley-based squad as we set the grid for the season-opening Australian Grand Prix.
