Max Verstappen starts the season-opening 2024 F1 Bahrain Grand Prix from pole position, but his advantage his smaller than expected.
Just five-tenths of a second separated Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton in ninth, suggesting that Red Bull aren't as dominant as they were this time 12 months ago. Charles Leclerc will start alongside Verstappen on the front row, with George Russell in third.
Carlos Sainz is next to Russell on the second row, with Sergio Perez and Fernando Alonso on row three. The star of qualifying was Haas' Nico Hulkenberg, who progressed to Q3 and secured 10th on the grid.
