Liam Lawson does not believe there is much more he could have done this season to save his F1 seat at Racing Bulls.
Lawson has been one of the standout performers in Formula 1 this year, but there is still uncertainty over his future with the Faenza-based squad.
The New Zealander is currently 'best of the rest' in the standings in ninth, and impressed during the three rounds he deputised for Isack Hadjar at Red Bull, after the 21-year-old sustained a wrist injury while training over the summer break.
Fourteen of Lawson's 65 points came during that stint, and his results have helped vault Racing Bulls to comfortably occupy fifth in the constructors' standings, 22 points clear of closest rivals Alpine.
However, there are still no guarantees for 2027 and with highly-regarded junior Nikola Tsolov, who is in the fight for the F2 drivers' title, waiting in the wings, there is a difficult decision for Red Bull to make.
When Lawson was asked if he had an update, he told media, including RacingNews365: "At this stage, it's pretty similar to how it's been.
"There are conversations obviously constantly being had in the background, but for me, it's very much 'focus on the racing'."
Lawson to 'keep those points rolling in'
Team principal Alan Permane and CEO Peter Bayer have both voiced their satisfaction with the current line-up of Lawson and Arvid Lindblad, and have very much acknowledged that it is a good problem to have.
For Lawson, it is a case of keeping his head down and continuing to do what he has done all season.
"I don't feel like there's much more I could have done this year," the Racing Bulls driver added.
"We've had a good season, and at the moment, [we're] in a good place in the championship, and that's where I'm trying to stay.
"I'm going to try to stay in ninth and keep those points rolling in, and those decisions I'm sure will be made in the next few weeks."
