Liam Lawson has conceded his return to Racing Bulls has been a “pretty shocking” experience following a difficult run of races.
Lawson endured a dismal weekend in Miami as he was involved in incidents in both the sprint race and Sunday’s grand prix.
The New Zealander lost the two points he scored in the sprint race after being handed a penalty for spinning around Alonso, before his grand prix prospects were destroyed in a coming together with Jack Doohan on the opening lap.
Issuing his verdict on his weekends since returning to Racing Bulls last month, Lawson told media including RacingNews365: “Most of them have been pretty shocking.
“Comfort-wise, I feel really good in the car, the speed has been pretty good most places.
“Unfortunately, no results. We have no points. There are a lot of variables in our sport, and putting a full race together can be quite tough.
“The speed has been there for most of it. Unfortunately, it hasn't worked out for us so far.”
Lawson was pitched around by Doohan at the first corner but attempted over half the race before the team opted to retire the car.
“I had a really good start, a big gap opened up into Turn 1,” Lawson reflected. “I went in following whoever was in front of me.
“Then I felt a hit from the side, I don’t know what happened. We took some big damage.
“We were waiting for some rain or something like that, but it never came.”
