Lewis Hamilton has stated being inside the Ferrari motorhome for the European races marked another realisation of his position within the team.
Hamilton made the switch from Mercedes to Ferrari for the current season, ending his long-standing partnership with his former team.
The seven-time champion has endured a difficult start to life at the Italian squad and currently sits seventh in the drivers' standings.
Hamilton is partaking in his first Italian race as a Ferrari driver this weekend at Imola, which commences the European leg of the season.
As he continues to get acclimatised to his surroundings, Hamilton admitted he ran into difficulties navigating the Ferrari motorhome at Imola.
“Everything is kind of like a new experience,” he told media including RacingNews365
“It is the first time that I have been to one of the European races and seen the motorhomes. I got here and didn’t know where I was going - I had to get someone to show me round.”
Hamilton revealed he has long held a desire to step inside the Ferrari motorhome for the European races but never had the courage to do so as a driver from a rival team.
“I have seen these hospitality trucks since I started in F1 in 2007,” he added.
“I’ve walked past them and never been inside. If I’m really honest, I was scared to set foot inside as I was from another team.
“I never went past the first step. Today is the first time walking around this building and it's another realisation that I’m here.
“And also it’s just that you know that Italians are passionate and that there is passion around Ferrari.
“But it’s a lot more than you expect when you are actually in it and it is beautiful.”
