Leclerc crash triggers second Azerbaijan FP1 red flag

33mins
Charles Leclerc crashed heavily at Turn 15 almost halfway through first practice ahead of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.

Charles Leclerc triggered a second red flag during first practice ahead of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, following an unfortunate accident.

The Monegasque driver appeared to carry too much speed into Turn 15 and made moderate contact with the barrier on the exit of the corner.

He immediately reported to the team that the part of the circuit was dirty, although he had completed missed the apex of the corner.

The accident occurred with just under 33 minutes remaining in the opening session of the weekend at the Baku City Circuit, which had already been red-flagged earlier on.

A brief red flag was required just after 10 minutes into the session, as a small piece of debris needed to be cleared.

At the timing of the red flag after Leclerc's shunt, it was the Ferrari driver himself at the top of the timesheets.
