Krack praises Aston Martin's 'fantastic' response to recent slump

The Silverstone squad may have fallen down the order in recent races, but Krack has praised the team's desire to bounce back.

Aston Martin Team Principal Mike Krack has hailed his team's response to their recent run of poor results. The Silverstone-based outfit started the season in brilliant form, with Fernando Alonso scoring six podium finishes in the first eight Grands Prix, as Aston Martin could legitimately claim to be the second-fastest team behind Red Bull. However, as other teams such as McLaren delivered effective mid-season upgrade packages, Aston Martin has slipped back from its early season pomp, with Alonso and teammate Lance Stroll only managing to finish ninth and tenth in the Hungarian Grand Prix. Despite that setback, Krack said he was impressed at the team's commitment to arresting the slide, and hailed his charges' desire to improve the AMR23's competitiveness. "After the [Hungarian Grand Prix], I already prepared a couple of lines for our debrief. But the reaction I saw from the team straight away on the Sunday debrief and on the Monday briefing at the factory, which we do with all the employees, was fantastic," Krack told media, including RacingNews365.com . "It was really like, 'okay, what do we do now?' And you could see the lights did not go off in the composite shop. It did not go off in the analysis departments. "And the reaction of the team has been fantastic. And it's very encouraging to see that, that you do not have to say everything is going to be better and all that. "It was a really very competitive spirit, and it's very encouraging for the future to see that."

Alonso and Stroll "super constructive"

Krack also praised the influence of Alonso and Stroll, adding that the drivers' input had confirmed several of the key areas the team's engineers had earmarked for improvement. "Both drivers were super constructive in the debrief on Sunday. It also went quite long. We almost missed the flight. Then it went on Monday with very long messages. "Lance was also there. So that was quite good because you have the analysis, and then we try to have their comments backed on what we have found based on our findings. "And I think it was quite nice to see that they confirmed that these are the main areas that we have to work on. A really great team effort, but now we have to put it into reality."
