Kimi Antonelli reveals hilarious father threat as 'stupid' weakness remains

Kimi Antonelli revealed that his father hilariously threatened to stretch his "neck like a chicken" if he gets another unnecessary track limits warning, with the driver himself describing his mistakes as "stupid".

Antonelli has had a tendency this season to exceed track limits when in a comfortable position, something he did twice while leading the Belgian Grand Prix.

He has received track limits warnings on several occasions this season, while he was also handed a five-second time penalty for repeated track limits infringements at Silverstone.

It has been his biggest weakness in what has otherwise been a phenomenal 2026 campaign for the 19-year-old, who leads the championship by 45 points and has six wins to his name.

However, even he has recognised that he must stop exceeding track limits when in control of a race, especially as he might find himself in a situation where he needs to push beyond the limits.

Antonelli's father is eager for his son to keep his Mercedes within the white lines, resulting in the comical threat.

Discussing his father wanting him to improve track limits, Antonelli told select media, including RacingNews365: "Yeah, I guess you guys know I like to use the track sometimes a bit too much. So it's something that I'm trying to work on.

"I looked back at Spa, and the two track limits were very stupid. I was like, 'What the heck am I doing?' But it's a bit like Barcelona as well, and Miami. I just feel that it's something I need to work on for sure because sometimes in a race I might need to use them.

"But, you know, if I use them when I don't need to, then I might find myself in trouble. So, for sure, it's something that I'm working on, and definitely my dad... One of the first things he told me after the race, he said, 'Congrats, but'—always a but.

"He told me, 'If I see you getting another track limit for nothing, I'm going to stretch your neck like a chicken.' So yeah, those were his words. It's definitely something I need to work on."
