Jos Verstappen has launched a stinging attack on the English media following son Max's breathtaking Brazilian victory.
The three-time F1 champion delivered a masterclass performance in the wet, rising from 17th on the grid to clinch victory by over 19 seconds to Esteban Ocon.
In the post-race FIA press conference, Verstappen took his own swipe at the British media after believing himself to be harshly treated for the two 10-second time penalties he received during the Mexico City Grand Prix for incidents with McLaren's Lando Norris.
The elder Verstappen has also waded in. Speaking to De Telegraaf, Verstappen Sr hopes the British media has been taught a lesson by son Max.
"This is Max's perfect answer to a lot of whining, and certainly in the direction of the English," he said.
"Commentators, journalists and former drivers - they will keep their big mouths shut for now. Max has shown that he is the very best.
"Those people who shout that he should change his driving style? His driving style is perfect! Also such a first lap in the rain, where he made up six places. He is always perfect in these conditions."
Verstappen Sr did not reserve his rebuke for just one media organisation as he also lambasted the British press on Sky Germany.
“He showed who is the best,” he said. “I believe he was very motivated after the negative journalists from England and the negative drivers.
“They think they are taking him out of his good mood, but he will only get better because of it. I’m very proud of what he did. The whole world saw who is the very best.”
