The FIA has committed to the planned 2026 F1 power unit regulations after a crucial meeting at the Bahrain Grand Prix.
On Friday in Sakhir, president Mohammed Ben Sulayem gathered senior figures from F1 and the power unit manufacturers including Audi chief Gernot Dollner, Honda Racing President Koji Watanabe as well as the likes of Christian Horner and Toto Wolff to discuss the future of F1's engine regulations.
A return to V10 engines, with fully sustainable fuels, had been touted as a possibility, with the 2026 rules being delayed and then ultimately scrapped, but the FIA says it is "fully committed" to the overhaul of the power units for next season.
The possibility of normally aspirated engines such as a V10, returning was left open for the future, but it appears they will not appear back in F1 until at least 2030, by which time the V10 will have been away for a quarter of a century - 25 years.
But what do you think of the decision?
