Nico Hulkenberg triggered a second Abu Dhabi Grand Prix Free Practice 2 red flag, leaving drivers' hopes for long runs in tatters.
Following a near half-hour delay for Carlos Sainz crashing at Turn 3, leading to barrier repairs, there was a rush to get out on track when the session resumed with 25 minutes to go.
However, on the first flying lap of the restarted session, Hulkenberg spun exiting Turn 1, damaging the rear of the Haas.
The red flags were thrown once again while a tractor/crane recovered the stricken VF-23.
As with Sainz, the clock continued to count down, with FP2 the most representative on-track running of the practice sessions leading into qualifying and the race, although the session did restart with 16 minutes on the clock.
George Russell remains top of the time sheets.
