After a dominant start to the season, Red Bull has lost the initiative in Formula 1.
McLaren has the fastest car, whilst it has also taken the lead in the constructors' championship.
Still, the world looks rosy for Red Bull, and especially team boss Christian Horner, who saw his generous salary rise considerably last year when his team was all-conquering.
The Times reports that Horner, as director of Red Bull Technologies Ltd, earned £8.92 million in 2023, compared to £8.04 million a year earlier. This is an increase of 11 per cent in the year in which Max Verstappen won 19 of the 22 races and claimed his third world title.
For comparison, Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff earned £6 million in salary, although he is also a shareholder. Therefore, the Austrian received another £25 million in dividends.
Horner is not a shareholder and so cannot add dividends to his pot, but Red Bull shareholders did receive a total of £50 million in dividends for 2023.
As for advisor Helmut Marko, meanwhile, as a director of Red Bull Racing, his salary doubled, rising from £3.5 million to £7 million.
