Former F1 driver Christijan Albers has urged Red Bull motorsport advisor to leave Red Bull, declaring the 82-year-old has reached his "expiration date".
The comments follow Wednesday's shock departure of Christian Horner, who parted ways with the Austrian outfit after over 20 years as its team principal and CEO.
An exact reason for Horner's exit is yet to be announced; however, Laurent Mekies has been confirmed as his replacement.
It marks the start of a new chapter at the Milton Keynes-based outfit, although Albers is eager to see Marko also leave the organisation to make way for a "new generation".
"I think it’s time Marko also reaches his expiration date," said Albers speaking on De Telegraaf’s podcast.
"Hearing some of his statements, they are out of touch with the times. I wonder if he should stay in that position. Maybe it’s time for a radical change and to usher in a new generation."
Marko joined Red Bull at the very beginning of its F1 journey, as did Horner, with the duo and co-founder Dietrich Mateschitz having turned the team into a frontrunner.
However, the Austrian, who also looks after Red Bull's junior drivers, has received criticism for some of his comments, in particular towards Isack Hadjar who he called "embarrassing" in Australia.
"I find that to be a very significant factor," added Albers, addressing the mark Marko leaves on drivers.
"In his interviews, I don’t find him tactical. And now you might say: ‘He was never tactical’, but now I find it to be excessively harsh, and that does not benefit the team."
