Lewis Hamilton has voiced his support for Mercedes team-mate George Russell and hopes the Briton can take the race victory in the Singapore Grand Prix. Russell will start the race n second place after narrowly missing out on pole position to Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz by just 0.072s. While Red Bull has dominated the campaign so far, it failed to advance into Q3 during qualifying, presenting rival teams with a huge chance of a race victory. With Hamilton set to start from fifth place, the seven-time World Champion is hoping to see his younger teammate climb to the top step of the podium. "[I’m] really happy for George, he did a mega job," Hamilton told media including RacingNews365. "He’s just been really connected with the car all weekend. It started good for us today and [then] it was not so good. "I think George has a really good shot at winning. I really hope that he does, I hope he gets a good start and gets ahead of the Ferraris. "That would be amazing for the team and for him."
