George Russell has been handed a clear verdict by Formula 1 fans, that he deserves a new multi-year contract from Mercedes.
The Briton finds himself currently without a seat for 2026, although is heavily expected to remain with the Silver Arrows.
Following the Hungarian Grand Prix, Russell confirmed it was a matter of "when not if" he signs a new contract, with interest in Max Verstappen having ended for next year.
Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff had held conversations with the four-time world champion over joining the outfit next year for the new power unit regulations; however, the Dutchman committed to Red Bull for next season in Hungary.
In Austria, Russell suggested to media that Wolff's talks with Verstappen were delaying his own contract conversations, although nothing is now in the way.
The big question is what length of contract the 27-year-old will be handed, something F1 supporters have a clear opinion on.
In a recent RacingNews365 poll, a dominant 65% of voters insisted Russell deserves a new multi-year deal, whilst 21% believe a one-year deal should be awarded.
Only 10% of the voters do not think Russell should be handed a new deal, following his sixth podium of the season in the Hungarian GP.
