George Russell has been handed a drive-through penalty at the Monaco Grand Prix for failing to serve his initial five-second time penalty.
The Mercedes driver had been punished for speeding in the pit lane, and when he came in for a second time under safety car conditions, his pit crew touched his W17 immediately, not serving the penalty he was required to serve.
As a result, he must now serve that original sanction correctly and come back into the pit lane for the drive-through penalty.
The British driver was asked to stay out, but in the confusion of the safety car, he peeled into the pit lane anyway, which instigated the series of unfortunate events.
The 78-lap race in Monte Carlo is currently under red flag conditions after Charles Leclerc's crash, and Russell sits in fourth.
However, he will likely fall outside the points once his punishments are served. Kimi Antonelli is in the lead and stands to increase his lead in the F1 drivers' championship over his Mercedes team-mate from 43 points to 68.
