Formula E has officially unveiled its Gen4 race car, which will be introduced next season when its new regulatory cycle gets underway.
The car is a "statement of intent" of Formula E's ambition to become the fastest single-seater series on the planet, with the Gen4 taking a significant step towards F1.
With speeds in excess of 335 km/h (208 mph) and a 0–100 km/h (0–60 mph) time of around 1.8 seconds, it is expected to be quicker than a current Formula 2 car and just a few seconds adrift of F1 machinery.
The power output of the Gen4 has increased by 70% compared to the current Gen3 Evo, and it is capable of producing 600 kW in full attack mode and during the qualifying duels.
It is the biggest, longest, and most powerful car in the history of Formula E, and one which is expected to attract substantial attention.
"GEN4 isn’t just a car, it's a bold declaration of our ambition," said Formula E CEO Jeff Dodds. "Seeing what it can do on track for the first time is a real milestone for Formula E - we are now delivering performance levels that were thought impossible for electric vehicles just five years ago.
"The step up in performance is immediately clear, from the speed and power to the way it delivers on track, and there was a genuine buzz among everyone who witnessed it.
"This is a hugely exciting moment for the championship as we head into the upcoming 2026/27 Season, and a clear signal of where we are headed.
"This is just the beginning, as its refinement is now in the hands of our manufacturers - Porsche, Jaguar, Stellantis, Nissan, Lola Cars and Mahindra - to push development to even higher limits of performance ahead of its racing debut later this year.
"Gen4 isn’t just an evolution, it’s a step-change in innovation and performance that will redefine motorsport for years to come."

Gen4 a 'statement of intent'
For Formula E, Gen4 is a major step in performance, one that will see it rival the biggest categories in the world.
What has been achieved is a symbol of the progress being made with pure electrification, with Formula E manufacturers Porsche, Jaguar, Nissan, Stellantis, Mahindra, and Opel all involved.
In the eyes of FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem, a "new global benchmark" will be set with Gen4.
"The new GEN4 Formula E car marks a significant step forward for electric racing, setting a new global benchmark for performance, innovation, and sustainability.
"It is not simply just a fast car, it is a statement of intent about the future of this technology. I am proud that the FIA and its partners in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship are leading this vision.
"Collaboration has been central to the development of this car, and it will continue to be at the heart of a new era for the championship defined by greater performance, road relevance, and excitement.
"We are redefining what is possible alongside some of the world’s biggest automotive manufacturers using the laboratory of motorsport."
