Six-time F1 grand prix winner Ralf Schumacher has declared Liam Lawson will replace Daniel Ricciardo after the Singapore Grand Prix this weekend.

Lawson has long been linked with a drive at the RB team after impressing during his substitute appearances during the 2023 campaign.

The New Zealander was called up to replace an injured Ricciardo last year before the latter was reinstated for the remainder of the season and retained for 2024.

However, the F1 veteran has endured a mixed season and his future has been under speculation for some time.

Red Bull had a September timeline to decide on Lawson's future or otherwise risk losing him to a rival team - and according to Schumacher, the team has decided to field 22-year-old from the United States Grand Prix.

“Red Bull Racing is a junior team, that is also what the company management has always said and has supported: 'We will rely on our young drivers', and that is why it makes sense," Schumacher told Sky Germany.

"It's a shame for Daniel, because we'll be missing a driver who is super nice, always has a smile and who you like to meet in the paddock."

RB has already confirmed that Yuki Tsunoda will remain with the team for the 2025 season.
