For the first-time in motorsport history, an all-female test run by an FIA championship will take place on Friday afternoon at 2pm local time (1pm GMT).
To conclude its week of pre-season testing in Madrid, Formula E has put on a test exclusive to female drivers, with 17 to take part in the first-of-its-kind event.
The event will give the drivers an opportunity to experience the new-for-Season 11 Gen3 Evo – the fastest-accelerating FIA single-seater, capable of 0-60 mph in just 1.82s.
Every team has been set the requirement to run at least one female driver; however, seven of the 11 outfits will run two.
The unique three-hour session at the Circuit de Jarama offers the female drivers a chance to test themselves against one-another, but also to gain an experience which otherwise would not have come unless as a full-time driver in the category.
FE has put on the test to provide the drivers a pathway to develop their careers and open new doors, potentially in the all-electric series.
Some huge names will feature in the test, including, Andretti IndyNXT driver Jamie Chadwick, F1 Academy title leader Abbi Pulling, veterans Simona de Silvestro and Tatiana Calderon.
Several others from F1 Academy, like Bianca Bustamante, are also participating in the test, as well as some young names regarded very highly, including McLaren's 19-year-old Ella Lloyd.
