An overwhelming majority of Formula 1 fans believe Ferrari should keep a close eye on Max Verstappen's future, with nearly 70% backing the Scuderia to pursue the four-time world champion when Lewis Hamilton retires.
A RacingNews365 poll revealed 69.7% of respondents think Ferrari should consider signing Verstappen if Hamilton calls time on his career, while just 30.3% believe Oliver Bearman represents a viable alternative as the seven-time champion's replacement.
Hamilton, currently 41 years old, is understood to have a contract with Ferrari running through 2027, with reports suggesting a unilateral option for that final season.
However, the Briton has indicated he intends to continue racing until F1 returns to Africa, telling media ahead of the Australian Grand Prix that he will not leave the sport without achieving that milestone.
Verstappen has previously left the door open to a Ferrari move, stating that whilst there is no current discussion given the team's existing driver contracts, there are "a lot of chances in life for any kind of decision."
The Dutchman added that he does not know how long he will continue in F1, keeping his long-term future uncertain.
The poll results suggest fans view Verstappen, rather than rising star Bearman, as the ideal candidate to partner Charles Leclerc should Hamilton retire in the coming years, underlining the enduring appeal of securing a proven champion.
