Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur believes McLaren having both Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri vying for F1 drivers' championship glory is ultimately a "good issue" to have, despite the looming threat of Max Verstappen.
The team-mates are separated by just one point with four rounds of the season to run, whilst the Red Bull driver is 36 adrift of the British side of the Woking-based squad's garage.
Norris reclaimed the advantage in the title battle by storming to victory at the Mexico City Grand Prix, topping the standings for the first time in 15 rounds.
But with Piastri close behind, there is zero indication McLaren will entertain sacrificing its Australian driver's championship aspirations to see off Verstappen.
CEO Zak Brown recently explained he would rather the Dutchman take the crown than "playing favourites" between his two drivers, if it came to it.
Vasseur feels the constructors' champion's predicament is actually a positive problem, and that the pendulum of performance will continue to swing between the pair.
Speaking to media, including RacingNews365, the Frenchman said: "It's a good issue for McLaren that, at the end of the day, they did a good job this season.
"They have two competitive drivers. Sometimes it's Oscar, sometimes it's Lando. It will be like this until the end."
The Ferrari boss pointed out the advantage of a close title fight, one in which Verstappen is increasingly becoming a factor.
The 57-year-old also underlined how close the constructors' standings have become, with the Italian team just one point ahead of Mercedes in third as Red Bull trails just behind.
"It's good for F1, it's good for the show," he added. "The fact that Max is coming back, the fact that we have three teams fighting for P2 in the constructors' — it's 10 points [separating all three].
"Again, it's good for the show and good for the sport that this is the championship."
