Ferrari has announced that Loic Serra, a key signing from Mercedes, will take up the position of technical director, chassis.

Serra will join Ferrari on October 1st after leaving Mercedes, where he was eventually promoted to performance director during its spell of eight consecutive constructors' championships.

His departure to Maranello was confirmed in July 2023, with it now being confirmed that he will oversee various departments in his new role.

In the role, Serra will be responsible for the chassis project engineering, vehicle performance, aerodynamics, track engineering and chassis operations departments of the car.

The heads of these departments Fabio Montecchi, Marco Aduno, Diego Tondi, Matteo Togninalli and Diego Ioverno, respectively will report directly to Serra, who in turn will report to team principal Frederic Vasseur.

Vasseur had been performing the role on an interim basis following the departure of Ferrari veteran Enrico Cardile earlier this year to Aston Martin.

The technical director power unit role will continue to be filled by Enrico Gualtieri.

Serra, below left, was one of two high-profile captures from Mercedes, the other being Jerome D'Ambrosio, with the two set to reunite with Lewis Hamilton when he joins the Scuderia in 2025.
