Ross Brawn has made the shock leap to two wheels by joining the board of directors at MotoGP outfit Pramac Racing.

Brawn, who spent almost four decades in F1 in a variety of roles, has taken on a non-executive role and will serve as advisor to Pramac's team principal Paolo Campinoti.

Throughout his time in F1 with Benetton, Ferrari, Honda, his own Brawn GP team, and Mercedes from 1991 to 2013, Brawn played a major role in winning 11 constructors' championships and 11 drivers' titles.

After taking a break from the sport from 2013 to 2016, he returned in 2017 as F1's managing director, motorsports before retiring for a second time at the end of 2022.

The 71-year-old's appointment with Pramac is viewed by the team as one that 'strengthens the company‘s organisational structure as it continues its development at the top level of motorcycle racing'.

Addressing his appointment, Brawn said: "Motorsport has always been about people, teamwork and continuous improvement, and I look forward to supporting Paolo and the team and contributing where my experience may be useful.

"Pramac has built an impressive organisation with a strong spirit and ambition, and I‘m excited to be part of its future."

Expressing his pride in luring Brawn to Pramac, Campinoti said: "Beyond his extraordinary career and achievements in Formula 1, Ross is someone with whom I have shared a friendship and a relationship of great respect for many years.

"I believe that his vision, knowledge and winning mentality will make a valuable contribution to the continued growth and development of Pramac Racing."

Brawn is the second high-profile figure to join a MotoGP team after former Haas team principal Guenther Steiner became CEO of Red Bull KTM Tech 3 earlier this year.
