F1 fans have voted the Italian Grand Prix as their favourite race of the 2021 season, a new survey has revealed.
Formula 1 asked followers of the sport to vote on the all-important topic, and 52,000 gladly accepted the challenge of picking the best event from what proved to be a very memorable year.
It was September's visit to Monza that came out on top, a race best remembered for two moments in particular.
The first was another controversial crash between title contenders Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton, with the Red Bull ending up on top of Hamilton's Mercedes after a slow collision at Turn 2. Both drivers were eliminated from the Grand Prix as a result.
Subsequently, the second big story happened when Daniel Ricciardo clinched a surprise win for McLaren, marking his first victory in Formula 1 since 2018.
It was made even more of a feel-good result thanks to Lando Norris claiming second, making it a 1-2 finish for the team.
Which other races did F1 fans choose as favourites?
The Italian Grand Prix claimed 19 percent of the vote, but the dramatic season-closing race in Abu Dhabi was a close second, having been voted as favourite by 16 percent of fans.
This was of course the scene of a controversial ending to the year, with Verstappen being crowned World Champion on the final lap of the race after a late Safety Car allowed him to pit for fresh Soft compound tyres and catch up with Hamilton ahead, who was still on an older set of Hard tyres.
In third place was the Brazilian Grand Prix, which took 10 percent of the vote. This was another eventful weekend, which saw Hamilton bounce back from being excluded from qualifying to make his way up to fifth in the Sprint Qualifying event, before clinching a memorable win in the race itself.
Eight percent of fans voted for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix as their favourite. June's visit to Baku was not a good day for Verstappen or Hamilton, who both came away with no points.
It was a good one for Sergio Perez, though, who won his first race for Red Bull and was joined on the podium by Sebastian Vettel and Pierre Gasly.
Another surprise result came at the Hungarian Grand Prix in the form of Esteban Ocon's unexpected debut victory in F1. This race was voted as the fifth favourite, with seven percent of the vote.
