F1 fans deliver clear verdict on if Red Bull should re-consider Perez extension

A clear majority of F1 fans have voted that Red Bull should re-consider the now-signed contract extension it offered Sergio Perez.

F1 fans are overwhelmingly in agreement on whether Red Bull should re-consider re-signing Sergio Perez, with the 34-year-old enduring a torrid run of form.

News of the extension, which will see the Mexican stay with the Milton Keynes team until at least the end of next season and potentially into 2026, came in the middle of a poor period for Perez - just before the Canadian Grand Prix

Across the two races preceding confirmation of the new contract (Imola and Monaco) and the two after (Canada and Spain), Perez has managed a meagre eight points. In that stretch, team-mate Max Verstappen has scored 83.

The team option for 2026 raised eyebrows, but is, as suggested, within Red Bull's control. However, the most striking thing about the deal was the timing of it - something you would also assume to be in its control.

Given the options at Red Bull's disposal, it is very early in the season to lock Perez in for next year - and his recent performances do little to avail the notion it was the right decision.

To F1 fans, the move was clearly a mistake. Over three-quarters of those who voted in a recent RacingNews365 poll believe Perez should be dropped, with a mere 11.32% of respondents arguing he is the right man for the job.

In all in, close to 90 percent think the six-time grand prix winner should not be in the RB22 (we assume it will be called) come 2026.
