F1 drivers have been handed unequivocal support when it comes to ensuring they are heard on future track design.
A RacingNews365 poll showed that fans are firmly on the side of the drivers when it comes to circuit design, with 94.5 per cent agreeing that those behind the wheel know best what makes for good overtaking.
Just 3.6 per cent of respondents took the opposite view, that drivers should simply race what they are given and keep their opinions to themselves. The remainder said they did not know.
The poll came following renewed debate over circuit layouts after the inaugural Spanish Grand Prix at the Madring hybrid circuit, which drew sharp criticism from multiple drivers for offering few realistic passing opportunities.
Alexander Albon was among the most vocal advocates for change, arguing that modern permanent circuits with camber, elevation changes and varied corner angles create pockets of clean air that street tracks often lack.
Lewis Hamilton voiced similar frustration after the Madring weekend, questioning the credentials of those behind recent track designs.
"They're making some of these tracks where you just cannot overtake, and it's frustrating," the Ferrari driver said. "Don't know who's designing them... like, anyone else here wanna design a track?
"I'm pretty certain there are lots of people who would be able to do a better job than some of the ones we've got come up."
George Russell echoed the call for structural change, insisting: "They need to make a change because every track needs to have an overtaking opportunity after a bit of a straight."
