Lance Stroll has been hit with a grid penalty ahead of Sunday's British Grand Prix at Silverstone, further compounding what has been a torrid 2026 campaign for Aston Martin.
The Canadian took on his fifth energy store and fifth control electronics unit of the season, exceeding the permitted allocation for both components.
The breach triggers an automatic 10-place grid penalty for Stroll, applied to his race starting position.
Having outqualified team-mate Fernando Alonso in Saturday's qualifying session, Stroll now drops from 21st to 22nd on the grid, handing the position back to the two-time world champion.
It is yet another blow for Aston Martin, who sit rock bottom of the constructors' championship in 10th place with a solitary point to their name after eight races.
Reliability woes with their Honda power unit have plagued the team from the outset, while the AMR26 has lacked the pace to trouble the midfield, let alone the front-runners.
Stroll is the second driver to be handed a grid penalty for the race, after Pierre Gasly was deemed guilty of an impeding offence during qualifying.
