The start of Free Practice 2 for the Las Vegas Grand Prix has been delayed as track inspections continue following the drain incidents in FP1.

Early in the opening 60 minute session, Carlos Sainz hit a loose drain cover on the Strip, destroying the underside of the Ferrari.

Esteban Ocon also suffered a chassis loss after hitting the same drain and debris from Sainz's incident, with the session being abandoned just eight minutes into on-track running.

Officials have been inspecting drains around the circuit, with the 3.8-mile circuit the second-longest on the entire calendar.

It is unclear when the session will get underway, and by how much it will be extended.

The track is open to F1 until 04:00 local time, 12:00pm UK, when it must be handed back over to Las Vegas residents.
