It proved to be one hell of a 2024 for driver moves. Just two F1 teams go into the new season with unchanged driver line-ups.
There will be a remarkable six rookies on the grid this year, although one of those, Liam Lawson, has 11 grands prix under his belt after stints in 2023 and 2024.
Of the 20 drivers taking part this season, six have their contracts expire at the end of 2025, meaning the potential for musical chairs again ahead of 2026 is a distinct possibility.
How long is Lando Norris' contract with McLaren?
McLaren tied Norris to a new contract in early 2024, stating at the time it was "at least until the end of 2026", indicating he will remain loyal to the team for 2027.
The team moved to cement Norris' future as he had been linked with a move to Red Bull, deposed by McLaren as constructors' champions last season, although the British driver fell short of ousting Max Verstappen as drivers' title holder.
How long is Max Verstappen's contract with Red Bull?
Despite all the speculation linking Max Verstappen with a move away from Red Bull last year, he remains contracted through to the end of 2028.
There are no guarantees in F1, however, underlined by the fact a suggested clause in his deal emerged last season, indicating that if advisor Helmut Marko departed, he could follow suit. It is understood that the loophole has been closed.
It would not be a surprise if other clauses existed, affording Mercedes and Aston Martin hope as both have been linked with the four-time F1 champion.
How long is Lewis Hamilton's contract with Ferrari?
The biggest driver move for decades was announced just under a year ago when it was revealed Lewis Hamilton would be quitting Mercedes, the team that helped him win six of his record seven drivers' titles, to join Ferrari.
It was announced at the time that Hamilton, who turned 40 on January 7, had signed a multi-year contract, indicating he will be with the Scuderia for this year and 2026.
How long is George Russell's contract with Mercedes?
George Russell is entering the final year of his current Mercedes deal in 2025. There is nothing to indicate the team will not offer an extension at some point, but stranger things have happened.
Mercedes seemingly faces an unusual situation with both of its drivers out of contract. Although rookie Kimi Antonelli's future is unknown beyond this year, the suggestion is he penned an initial one-year contract pending his performances in 2025.
