Envision confirm Formula E driver pairing

Envision has confirmed its driver pairing for the upcoming eleventh season of Formula E.

Envision has confirmed an unchanged driver pairing of Sebastian Buemi and Robin Frijns for the upcoming Formula E season.  There had been much speculation towards the end of Season 10 whether Envision would retain both drivers, with talks having been held with multiple others.  It had been speculated that Frijns' and Buemi's WEC commitments were a concern, although the end of last season proved it was not an overwhelming issue after all.  Buemi and Frijns will race for the Silverstone-based outfit in the 2024/25 season, which kickstarts in São Paulo on December 7.  Envision failed to defend its teams' championship in the recently completed campaign following a difficult start to the season.  Significant improvements were made in the closing stages of Season 10, with three podiums having been claimed across the final four races.  Ultimately, Envision settled for sixth in the standings. Despite the difficulties last season, the team is hopeful it can bounce back. "It's great to have continuity in our driver line-up as Sebastien and Robin lead us into Season 11," said team principal Sylvain Filippi. "Despite Season 10 not being our strongest year, we are confident that the momentum we gained in the closing rounds can be taken into next season and put us back where we want to be.”

Buemi and Frijns target improvement

Season 2 champion Buemi started last season – his second with Envision – in great fashion, by claiming a podium in the Mexico City season-opener.  He struggled for form for several months after that, before rediscovering his best in the latter stages of the campaign with a podium in London.  As he prepares for his third year with Envision, Buemi is hopeful the team can work hard ahead of São Paulo. "As a team, we improved significantly towards the end of last season to get back to the front of the grid, and the results showed this," said Buemi.  "We will continue to push to ensure that we head to Sao Paulo with the same level of competitiveness." On the other side of the garage, Frijns' return to Envision after competing for ABT for a season started positively, with a podium in Diriyah.  However, time was required for the Dutchman to truly bond with Envision's Jaguar powertrain, resulting in a long period where minimal points were scored.  Like Buemi, he found form in the closing rounds, with two trips to the podium in Portland. Ahead of Season 11 and the introduction of the Gen3 Evo, Frijns is keen to start on the right foot.  "I started off Season 10 relatively strong, with a podium in Round 3, however it took some time to adjust to the new car and style of racing," said Frijns.  "We worked extremely hard to make that adjustment and by the end were fighting at the front again, so our focus now is on continuing that into next season."
