Dan Ticktum bounced back from his major penalty on Saturday to secure pole position for the second race of Formula E's Monaco E-Prix.

The Briton faced Antonio Felix da Costa in the final, the same driver Ticktum collided with in the first race of the weekend which resulted in a 33-second penalty.

Pole for the Cupra Kiro driver marked his second of the weekend at the Circuit de Monaco, while Edoardo Mortara and Jean-Eric Vergne complete the second row.

It was a difficult qualifying for Saturday's race winner Nyck de Vries, who failed to reach the duels and starts towards the back.

Ticktum was the clear favourite going into the final in Monaco following his impressive one-lap pace across the entire weekend.

He proved why he was the favourite, setting a lap which was five-tenths clear of da Costa to claim a comfortable pole.

To reach the final, Ticktum first beat Drugovich in the quarter finals, before going faster than Mortara in the semi finals with the fastest lap of the weekend.

As for da Costa, he got past Taylor Barnard first by just 0.001s, and soon after defeated Vergne to set up an exciting final with Ticktum.

In the other two quarter finals, Mortara eliminated Mitch Evans and Vergne knocked out reigning world champion Oliver Rowland.

Group stage

Qualifying got underway with clouds in the sky, although the temperature was warmer than 24 hours ago.

In the opening group, Ticktum went quickest to bounce back from his heavy penalty in Saturday's race, posting a 1m 28.492.

He was joined in the top four by Mortara, new championship leader Evans and Drugovich, while de Vries struggled and starts from the eighth row.

As for the second group, Barnard set a 1m 28.545 to go top, with the top four completed by Rowland, Vergne and da Costa. Pascal Wehrlein's difficult weekend continued with to start from the seventh row.
