Cyril Abiteboul joins Alpine supplier Mecachrome

Cyril Abiteboul has joined Mecachrome as an advisor, with the French company manufacturing key components for Alpine.

Former Renault team boss Cyril Abiteboul has found a new job, and it's one that sees him remain somewhat Alpine-affiliated. Abiteboul has been appointed as an advisor to the Mecachrome group. The French precision mechanics group continue to manufacture and assemble components of the Renault E-Tech V6 hybrid engines that are currently in the back of the Alpine F1 cars. Mecachrome recently signed a four year deal to continue their manufacturing contract with Alpine, while the company also have companies like Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Ferrari, Porsche and Rolls Royce as customers. Abiteboul's new role, having left Groupe Renault at the end of 2020 after twenty years with the organisation in various roles and delegations, will see him advise Mecachrome on medium-term developments for the group's activities in motorsport. Mecachrome have confirmed to RacingNews365 that the Frenchman's appointment is with immediate effect. “We are proud that Cyril can provide its support and expertise to the teams of the group in this activity," said Mecachrome CEO Christian Cornille. "Which, since 1983, has supported prestigious brands in the largest categories of motorsport, F1, F2, F3, endurance, rally. "Mecachrome group have to understand the trends and opportunities of this sector and make them consistent with the Group's objectives and the transformation undertaken in its other businesses."
