Charles Leclerc and Lando Norris have been punished for arriving late to the drivers' FIA press conference on media day at the Monaco Grand Prix.

Both McLaren and Ferrari have been handed a €5,000 fine, although it is suspended for 12 months and will only be paid should the offence be repeated. During the summons, Norris and Leclerc both explained that they were delayed due to a previous commitment.

The press session is mandated for six drivers — in two groups of three — by the motorsport governing body, and failure to attend or be punctual can incur sanctions.

On Thursday in Monte Carlo, both drivers were scheduled for the first 30-minute session, which was due to kick off at 14:30 local time, but did not get underway until a couple of minutes later, due to the Ferrari and McLaren drivers' late arrivals.

Just under three hours later, the FIA confirmed that the pair would be summoned before the stewards at 10:00 and 10:10 local time, respectively, on Friday morning.

The official incident document confirmed an "alleged breach of Article B10.1.1.a of the FIA F1 Regulations - Late attendance of the Thursday Press Conference."
