Carlos Sainz has triggered a financial punishment for Williams after speeding in the pit lane during first practice ahead of this weekend's Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. The Spaniard was caught going 93.7 km/h in the pit lane, a sizeable 13.7 km/h over the speed limit. As a result, the Grove-based team have been fined €1,000. Breaking the pit lane speed limit is a breach of Article 34.7 of F1's sporting regulations. Sainz had enjoyed a strong opening session in Imola after going third fastest, behind McLaren's Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris. He has turned a definitive corner in recent races, and appears much more settled in Williams than he was in the opening rounds.
