British racing driver Will MacIntyre has shared on social media that he has been diagnosed with brain and lung cancer.

The 18-year-old who competes in the GB3 Championship for Elite Motorsport announced the news after "not feeling quite myself", with treatment already underway.

MacIntyre claimed a victory at Silverstone earlier this year, as well as podiums at Zandvoort and the Hungaroring in his second campaign in what was the old British F3 series.

His first campaign was with Hitech, which runs teams right up to FIA F2 level, and brought MacIntyre three wins, including at Spa, Silverstone again and Oulton Park.

GB3 in its various guises in a key stepping stone up the junior ladder for young British drivers, with George Russell taking the 2014 title when the series was known as BRDC British F4, before a 2016 rebranding to BRDC F3, with GB3 taking over for 2021.

Everyone at RacingNews365 sends their best wishes to Will MacIntyre and hope for a full and speedy recovery.
