Button explains advisory role with Williams

Jenson Button has explained what he'll be doing with Williams in 2021, having signed up as an advisor to the team.

Jenson Button has returned to work for the Formula 1 team he made his debut with in 2000. The 2009 World Champion has signed up in an advisory and ambassadorial role with Williams for 2021, and has expanded on what his duties with the team will be. "Well, I'm definitely not going to be there to tell George [Russell] how to drive!" joked Button, appearing on Sky Sports F1 along with the Williams driver on The F1 Show. "But there's so much behind the scenes, from the experience that I have of working with many different teams over the years," Button explained. "Many different teammates, engineers, aerodynamicists and I think it's more the atmosphere within the team. It's something that I'm sure I can help with."

Reunited with Capito

Button will be joining forces with Jost Capito once again, having worked alongside the new Williams CEO during Capito's brief stint at McLaren in 2016. "It's great to see Jost within the team," said Button. "He's got a lot of experience of racing in many different categories around the world. And I think he definitely brings a lot of excitement to the team and a lot of positive energy. "There's a lot of interesting stuff going on and I've been speaking to Jost a lot. And I can't wait to get to Bahrain. I'll be doing a bit of stuff with William out there as well so I'm going to be rather busy!"
