The British Grand Prix has been red-flagged on Lap 1 following a huge incident at the first corner, Abbey.

Pierre Gasly, George Russell and Zhou Guanyu were all involved, with Zhou appearing the skate across the gravel upside down.

Gasly found himself sandwiched between Zhou and Russell, who closed together, with Zhou's car flipping upside down.

Meanwhile, at the back of the grid, Alex Albon was hit by Sebastian Vettel before bouncing across the track and being collected by Yuki Tsunoda.

That also resulted in damage for Esteban Ocon, who needed rapid suspension repairs in order to restart the race.

Zhou and Albon left needing medical checks

Max Verstappen managed to get ahead of Carlos Sainz into the first corner, while Lewis Hamilton jumped from fifth to third.

But behind them, the drama unfolded, with the red flags being shown as the cars returned to the pit lane.

After receiving medical attention in his car, Alfa Romeo confirmed that Zhou was "okay". He left the scene on a stretcher and was loaded into an ambulance en route to the Medical Centre.

Albon was also sent to the Medical Centre for checks, from where he was transferred to Coventry Walsgrave Hospital.
