Charles Leclerc and Pierre Gasly are at risk of disqualification from the Chinese Grand Prix, after the FIA found their cars to be underweight in post-race scrutineering.
Leclerc had finished fifth and Gasly 11th at Shanghai, but in post-race checks, the Ferrari and Alpine machines were to found be under the 800kg minimum weight demanded by the regulations.
Ferrari did replace the front-wing on Leclerc's car after he damaged it on the opening lap after contact with team-mate Lewis Hamilton, with this weight coming in at 800.5kg.
The car was then drained of the required fuel sample, with 2.0 litres removed, but then weighed 799.0kg, with the replacement wing weighing 0.2kg.
As for Gasly, his car was drained of 1.1kg of fuel and weighed 799.0kg after initially weighing 800.kg.
Both Ferrari and Alpine witnessed and agreed with the FIA's findings.
At the 2024 Belgian Grand Prix, race winner George Russell was disqualified for an underweight car after the breach of the regulations.
UPDATE: In a further drama, Lewis Hamilton is also facing a disqualification for a separate infringement on his Ferrari.
