Lewis Hamilton has been stripped of his race result at the Chinese Grand Prix after his car was deemed illegal.

The Ferrari driver claimed sixth place in Shanghai, one day after taking his first victory in red in the sprint race.

Hamilton endured a more difficult grand prix on Sunday and struggled to make progress throughout the 56-lap event.

The usual post-race car checks were carried out by the FIA after the chequered flag, which included his skid plank.

They were found to be 8.6mm on the left-hand side, 8.6mm through the centreline of the car, and 8.5mm on the right-hand side.

Skid planks are only allowed to wear to a 9mm thickness across the entire structure at the end of a grand prix.

Hamilton's exclusion from the results came just several minutes after team-mate Charles Leclerc was also disqualified after his car was deemed to be underweight.

Pierre Gasly was also dropped from the classification, as his car was also judged to have not met the minimum weight limit.

Hamilton and Leclerc's results have seen Lacnce Stroll and Carlos Sainz progress into the top 10.
