Jack Doohan and Carlos Sainz have both crashed out of the Australian Grand Prix on the first-lap in separate incidents.
With the start already delayed due to Isack Hadjar crashing on the first formation lap, a 15 minute delay to the race was followed, with Doohan crashing out at Turn 5 on the first racing lap.
Through the right-hander, he slammed into the wall on the left-hand side, destroying the Alpine, with the safety car immediately deployed.
However, behind it, 2024 Australia winner Sainz crashed at the final Turn 14, blaming a torque surge from his Williams-Mercedes power unit as he backed the car into the wall.
Race control then directed the field to pass through the pit-lane whilst the Sainz debris was cleaned up.
Lando Norris maintains the lead from Max Verstappen and Oscar Piastri, the Red Bull having jumped the McLaren on the opening lap before Doohan's crash.
It leaves 17 cars in the race.
