Aston Martin promise 'real car' for AMR22 launch

The car that Aston Martin will reveal at their launch on Thursday is "real" and not a mock-up, as other teams appear to have presented.

Aston Martin will become the first team to show off their "real" 2022 F1 car when the AMR22 is revealed to the world on Thursday afternoon. While Haas and Red Bull have held launch events for 2022, Haas' reveal was of studio rendered pictures of a '22 design, and Red Bull appeared to show the F1 model demonstration car repainted in the squad's colours. Aston Martin's launch event for the AMR22 will be streamed live across their social media platforms at 14:00 GMT.

The AMR22 heads for a Silverstone shakedown

An Aston Martin spokesperson has confirmed to RacingNews365.com that the real car will be unveiled at the launch, before being sent straight to Silverstone for a shakedown. Sebastian Vettel and Lance Stroll will both get behind the wheel on Friday as the team use up one of their two permitted filming days for the year. Separately, Matt Bishop, the team's Head of Communications, has also stated that the "real car" will be unveiled when Vettel and Stroll peel the covers off. On his own Twitter account, Bishop posted a short message from Aston Martin Lagonda's Gaydon factory. "The stage is set. I've cropped out of my pic the Aston Martin F1 AMR22 (sorry, I know I'm a tease)," he wrote. "It's sitting under the camera gantry, ready for our launch and unveil, which you can watch at 14:00. Oh and, yes, we'll be launching and unveiling our real race car."
