Aston Martin boss Andy Cowell has confirmed the team has managed to extract Adrian Newey's iconic drawing board from Red Bull ahead of his arrival.
Newey officially starts work as managing technical partner at Aston Martin on Monday 3rd March after quitting as Red Bull chief technical officer in 2024.
Newey is renowned for preferring to stand at his drawing board to create new designs rather than rely on computer-aided designs, but to take it to Red Bull in 2006, the team had to deal with then-McLaren boss Ron Dennis, who drove a hard bargain, with Red Bull having to pay to get it out of Woking.
But there have been no such issues in moving the board from Milton Keynes to Silverstone.
"I could show you a photo, but there's too many [media] to look at the image on my phone," Cowell told media including RacingNews365.
"But yes, his office is ready and the drawing board is there."
Cowell then added that Newey was set for a 'new employee induction.\
"Everybody is super excited to work with Adrian, his record speaks for itself," he added.
"We're looking forward to welcoming him on-site and doing an induction for a new employee, which might be a little different.
"We will start work by introducing him to the key engineering and technical players within our business, showing him the business tools for engineering the car and then getting stuck into creating a 2026 car and helping with improvements on 2025.
"I am sure he will get the lay of the land a lot quicker than I did."
